Ruth Ann Philipp, 91, of Owensville, Mo., passed away Sunday, Sept. 15, 2024, at Stonebridge of Owensville.
She was born Feb. 1, 1933, to Norris and Myrtle (Hall) Gunderson in Dunlap, Iowa.
She was united in marriage to Guenther "Bud" Philipp June 1, 1956, in Chicago, Ill.
Ruth Ann and Bud raised their family in Downers Grove, Ill., where they were active in local politics. Ruth Ann volunteered for years at the DuPage County Care Center helping senior residents. They were members of St. Ann of the Dunes Catholic Church in Beverly Shores, Ind., after they moved to Michigan City, Ind., in 1988. Ruth Ann moved to Owensville in 2021 after Bud's death to be nearer to family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Norris and Myrtle; husband, Bud; daughter, Elizabeth Philipp; and sister, Noreen Frederick.
She is survived by her children, Jackie Barndollar and husband Rodney of Owensville, Michael Philipp and wife Dina of Indian Land, SC and Daniel Philipp and wife Alicia of Lilburn, Ga.; and by eight grandchildren and their spouses and one great-grandchild.
A Celebration of Life will be held in Michigan City, Ind. in the summer of 2025. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial donations to St. Ann of the Dunes in Beverly Shores, Ind.

My favorite Aunt and Uncle.. Ruth Ann and Bud. Michigan City was my favorite place for summer holidays on the beach with my cousins, my nieces and nephews, and my children. Ruth Ann's laughter and kindness and ever-open hospitality, Bud's nightly playing "Taps" at sunset, hours of the late night patio discussions, and breakfast at Lindo's... Best ever.. XOXO
