Robert Petersen Obituary

Robert W. Petersen Robert Wallace Petersen, of Elmhurst, Illinois, passed away peacefully on January 8, 2014. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 63 years, Rosemarie "Sandy", and his parents, Rudolph and Amanda. He leaves behind his dear sister, Marilyn Geyer Danz; 3 dearly loved children, David (Angela) Petersen, Joanie (Thomas) Borchert and Carol (David) Bunnel; 10 adored grandchildren; 9 beautiful great grandchildren, and countless other relatives and friends who will all miss his fun-loving ways and big booming voice. Before spending his life working at Federal Paper Board in Illinois, Bob served his country as a sailor in the US Navy during World War II. Following retirement, Bob was able to live his dream by spending almost half of each year at his cottage on Lake Ellen in Michigan where he made many new friends, became involved in the community and tried valiantly to catch that one huge fish that he just knew was somewhere in that lake! He truly loved life, his family and friends, and could always be found if there was a party. Services to honor Bob were held on January 13, 2014 in Elmhurst, Illinois. A Memorial Service will be held at the Mansfield Pioneer Church at a later date in Mansfield Township, Michigan. In lieu of flowers, memorials will be appreciated for the American Heart Association, 3816 Paysphere Circle, Chicago, IL 60674, or the Alzheimer 's Association, 8430 W. Bryn Mawr, Chicago, IL 60631.
