Robert Mathias Obituary

Robert "Bob" Mathias, age 79, passed away June 14, 2008. He died peacefully in his home. He lived most of his life in Brookfield. He is survived by his wife, Betty (nee Duke); son, Kenneth; grandchildren, Molly and Parker. He was preceded in death by his son, Andrew. Bob attended Riverside Brookfield High School and Illinois Institute of Technology. He taught himself to play the piano at a young age. While in high school, he learned to play several band instruments. Years later, he joined the West Suburban Band. He loved to play the theater pipe organ. Most of his career was in Research and Development with the Hammond Organ Company. There will be a memorial service at the Unitarian Church of Hinsdale, on June 28th at 11am. The Church is located at 17 W Maple St in Hinsdale. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Thomas Hospice.
