Robert Emmett Obituary

Robert Darryl Emmett, a Chef at the Villa Roma Resort in Callicoon and a 16-year long resident of the area, died Tuesday, February 6, 2007 at home following a brief illness. He was 70.

The son of the late Charles and Caroline Markham Emmett, he was born October 6, 1936 in Cook County, Ill.

A U.S. Military veteran, he was a member of American Legion in Milford, Pa.; member and past Chief of the Franklin Lakes New Jersey Fire Department; Co-founder and Captain of Franklin Lake Ambulance Squad; honorary member of Hortonville Fire Department; member of the Sullivan County Firemans Advisory Board; member of Hortonville Presbyterian Church, where he also served on the Building and Grounds Committee.

Survivors include his wife, Elaine Kurtz Emmett, at home; a brother, Charles Emmett and his wife, Beverly of Wyckoff, N.J.; four sons: Michael Emmett and his wife, Maureen of Middletown, Del., David Emmett of Clifton Park, N.J., Steven Emmett and his wife, Jane of Tunkhannock, Pa., and Darryl Emmett and his wife, Kristin of Damascus, Pa.; 12 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call on Saturday, February 10, 2007 at Stewart Murphy Funeral Home, 34 Upper Main St., Callicoon, N.Y. from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., with Firematic services, followed by a religious service beginning at 1 p.m.

Cremation will be at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hortonville Fire Department, PO Box 71, Hortonville, NY 12745; Hortonville Presbyterian Church, PO Box 15, Hortonville, NY 12745, or Hospice of Orange & Sullivan Counties, Inc., 800 Stony Brook Ct., Newburgh NY 12550.
