Our mothers were members of the same sorority, and good friends. Norm and I were in the same class in high school.

I knew Norm as father to one of my favorite childhood friends, his charming, fun and smart daughter Heidi. Both Heidi and son Scott are testament to the wonderful demeanor of Norm Mayer. I knew a lot of nice men in the Old Town neighborhood of Western Springs in the 70s and 80s; 'Mr. Mayer' was on everyone's favorite list - and certainly mine. When at the Mayer house, 'Mr. Mayer' was always authentically present - interested to know what we were up to in life, and very much behind us. It is not surprising at all that he was MBA class president. Norm was an extremely affable guy, so much fun to sit down and chat with. So nice. He will undoubtedly be greatly missed.
