Dear Ruth,
Noel was kind to me when few others were. For this, and many more kindnesses, he will be remembered in my heart forever. I am better for knowing him. He will be missed.
Best,
Penny

Few people will ever be able to match Noel's dedication to the many organizations that he believed improved his community, and he demonstrated his commitment with action: selfless labor, passionate leadership, financial support and--most generously--the sharing of his rigorous intellect. He was always an inspiration, in his good works as well as the way he adored Ruth. It has been an honor to know him.

Dear Ruth:
The world of TWS, not to mention the world at large, will be a lesser place without Noel. He was dedicated to the theatre, his family and you...a true gentleman in every sense of the word. He will be greatly missed.

Last summer you gathered a few people to plant hostas in front of TWS. After nearly all of us pooped out in the sticky heat, you remained, pounding in fencing and watering - you and your cancer in the heat. There isn't a corner of TWS that your quiet Iowa strength hasn't touched.

Ruth -
Jean and I wish to express our sincere condolences for your loss. Both of us viewed Noel with the highest esteem -- as a friend and as a member of the Board of Education. We were unaware of Noel's passing until we received a phone call from Charles Railsback. We are planning to attend the memorial service
Warmest Good Wishes,
Paul & Jean Schilling, Former Supt.
