Melvin Kostrzak Obituary

Melvin M. "Poopsie" Kostrzak, age 74, a resident of Plainfield since 2000, formerly of Downers Grove (from 1986-2000) and Lyons (from 1956-1986), passed away Friday, February 26, 2010 at HCR - Manor Care Nursing Home in Hinsdale. Funeral Services held W ednesday, March 3, 2010 at Johnson Funeral Home, Ltd., in Brookfield. Interment Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside. Mr. Kostrzak was a U.S. Veteran serving in the Marine Corps during the Korean War. Before retiring in 1999, he was a Pipefitter at Reynolds Metals Co. in McCook, where he had 35 years of service. Mr. Kostrzak was a member of the Local 597 Pipefitters' Union. He enjoyed watching classic movies, traveling and family gatherings and outings. He is survived by his daughter, Nancy (Charles) Schuenemann; son, Christopher Kostrzak; grandchildren, Bonnie (Josh) Stetz,, Lisa (Jeremy) Hilgenberg, Charlie and Casey Schuenemann. He was preceded in death by his daughter Bonnie Kostrzak and his wife, the late Elizabeth "Betty" Kostrzak, nee Donovan, who died October 1993.
