Mary VandeVelde Obituary

Mary VandeVelde

Mary VandeVelde, age 98, and long time resident of Glen Ellyn, passed away peacefully on December 4, 2020. Mary was the beloved wife of the late Albert, loving mother of Tom (late Sandy), John (Diane Forbus), and Janet (Jim Gillespie). Loved and cherished by her grandchildren Annette, Michael, David, Julie, Missy, Christian, Marisa, Ian, Nicholas, Conor, and Dirk, and her 19 great grandchildren. Beloved sister of the late Henry VanLeuven (Marion), the late Harriet VanDeVelde (Babe) and Margaret Bruha (Jim).

Mary loved life and everything it had to offer. She was adored by her family and was loving called "Hamster" because she was in constant motion. She loved to travel the world, fish at the "farm" in Wisconsin, play cards and games, and was always willing to lend a helping hand. Now she's dancing the polka and playing whist!

In lieu of flowers, please send donations to The Janus School, 205 Lefever Road, Mount Joy, PA 17552. The Janus School is a school for students with learning differences where Janet is the Head of School.
