Its been 9 years since we lost such a gifted young man. Funny, but today I picked up his picture missing him wasn't funny..I felt sad remembering some of the crazy things he would manage to talk me into..like the time we fell off the float at the Houby day PARADE..OMG, we laughed for hours it was raining ice balls that day. He made my early days with the Police Dept fun especially on difficult days. I always called him a gifted up coming Politician the kind, and gentle soul of a caring young man..maybe is is gone from us, but he left many of us never forgetting his smile.. My heart goes out too his Family, along with a prayer.

My condolences to Mario's family and close friends on their loss of such a one-of-a-kind individual. Mario sure had personality plus, from a very young age.

My family moved to 16th and Harvey in 1983 and Mario would come play with the group of kids on our block all the time. When the years of playing passed, he would come around to hang out. He always had such a smile on his face and always gave everyone, kid or adult, a big hello. He used to make me laugh when as a kid, he would hitch a ride with the street cleaner and wave to everyone like he was in a parade. Perhaps he was practicing for the waving he would do on the floats in Houby Parade. I have a feeling I might wave to the street cleaner from time to time, as a remembrance to a gentle soul that left this world too soon.

Rest in Peace Mario

I still dont believe you are gone. My mind realizes that its true but my heart refuses to accept it. You were such a unique individual and anyone blessed to know you has a void in their heart because you are gone. I think you went with God suddenly because it would break your heart to say goodbye and you were never one for tears...you let everyone cry on your shoulder but you always had that smile. I cant imagine what your family is going thru and they are in my prayers. No one wanted someone so wonderful to suffer and hurt....but no one wanted this day to come. You lived your life and you never took one moment for granted...not many people can say that and it is my hope that if people learned anything from you or want to honor your memory...they will make each day count.
Mario...you can rest now. I hope you sing with Sinatra. I hope you watch over your family and friends because you are an angel. This isnt goodbye...its an i will see you soon. xoxo

I'm truely saddened to hear about Mario's passing. I went to high school with Mario and hadn't seen him in years, until last Sept at the Berwyn Oktoberfest.I knew who he was right away, and as I walked closer towards him he stood up from his chair, opened his arms and gave me a big hug and said "Theresa, I remember you it's been too long" and we laughed and exchanged a warm felt hug. He hadn't changed a bit, still the same outgoing and loving Mario. My thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends in this devastating time.
God Bless...

Someone said Mario - "you are one of a kind" was completely right - he was truly that. Memories I have of my daughter, Miki, and all the wonderful kids playing in the neighborhood has Mario as a leading character! Great funny and heart-felt anecdotes that will keep his memories alive - and all with a smile! To dear Sharon, Tony and the boys, my deepest sympaty - to lose a son and brother is a hurt that can only be slowly healed by time, understanding and faith. Love to the Lavorato family. Sally

To the family of Mario. I didn't know him and yet at the same time I did. Mario came to my brother's wake along with my sister in August and he was so heart warming to me and gave me the biggest hug as he was leaving. Now I wish I could have known him a little more. Thank you Mario for the short visit to my heart. My sympathy to Mario's family. Gloria D'Ambrosia

Wet met in third or fourth grade. I was shy and Mario was seated next to me in class. All I heard was a "pssst", I looked over and he was holding up his pencil case "We have the same ones!" he said and I smiled. That was how I met Mario. He was such an outgoing guy with a great personality. I am so sad to hear this news about his passing as he was too young. My heart goes out to the family as well as thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
