Lois Klingeman Obituary

Lois Ann Klingeman
Born: July 16, 1935 in Baltimore, MD
Died: August 2, 2023 in Paramus, NJ
Lois Ann Klingeman of Paramus, New Jersey, died at the age of 88 on August 2, 2023. She is survived by her children Richard Klingeman (Trang Khuu), Andrea Meher (Stuart), Gwen Klingeman (Michael Hubbell), and Kathryn Gronachan (Charles); her grandchildren Jacqueline, Zachary, James, Matthew and Jessica; and eight great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Robert Biden, as well as many cherished friends and family members.
Lois Ann was born July 16, 1935 to Joseph Biden and Alice Simon Biden in Baltimore, Maryland. Her life was a tapestry woven with passion and purpose. Graduating summa cum laude from Wittenberg University in 1957 with a B.A. in English, and subsequently earning her M.S. in Education (Special Education - Learning Disabilities and Emotional Disturbances) from Drake University in 1976, she exemplified the pursuit of knowledge and intellectual excellence.
She had a long and rewarding career as a high school English and Math teacher who was beloved by both her students and faculty alike. In addition to her love of teaching, Lois Ann was also passionate about the arts, social justice, human connection, her faith, health and fitness, the environment, philosophical discourse and her plants.
However, her primary reason for being was motherhood. The journey of parenting, with its fluctuations of emotion, only deepened her rare ability to provide unconditional love. She listened without judgment, made time when there was none, was benevolent in every circumstance, laughed easily and often and offered strength in times of uncertainty. And, she really knew her kids.
May her life inspire us to embrace our passions, love unconditionally and be open to new ideas.
Donations in Lois Ann's memory may be made to causes supporting social justice, environmental preservation or education.

I was saddened to hear about Lois passing away. She was a great teacher; compassionate and kind. I enjoyed our visits together in her home. Lois was
able to talk about sensitive topics with humility and wisdom. My heart goes out to her family.

Lois was one of the most genuine and compassionate people I've ever had the pleasure of knowing. She appreciated natural beauty and the arts. We enjoyed many live performances and cultural events together, followed by deep discussions about love and life. I will always be grateful for her friendship.
