Hotle; dear mother of David (Jeanne) Hotle of Manchester, MO and Dennis (Ruth) Hotle of Lee's Summit, MO; grandmother of Thad, Timothy, Dana and Jerret Hotle; great-grandmother of Antone, Talley, Avery and Nolan; sister of Ruth Tiemann and Elizabeth Postula. Preceded in death by her parents, Rev. Arnold and Katherine (Beachtold) Klick; her sister, Dorothy Mernitz and a great-grandchild, Marlena Katharine. Survived by a brother-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Katharine Roberta Hotle (nee Klick), was born on Nov. 26, 1916, in Grantfork, IL, the first child of Katherine Baechtold Klick and Arnold E. Klick. Rev. Klick was the pastor of St. John's Evangelical Church in Grantfork. In 1917 he was called to St. John's Evangelical Church in Tiffin, OH, where he was pastor for six years. Katharine attended public school in Tiffin, until the family moved to Louisville, KY where Rev. Klick served St. John's Evangelical Church for 12 years. Katharine graduated from Atherton High School for Girls in Louisville in 1934. She attended Elmhurst College, Elmhurst, IL and graduated in 1938 and in 1939 she earned a Master's Degree in Zoology from The Ohio State University. She married Antone E. Hotle, of Keota, IA on October 28, 1939. They made their home in Elmhurst, IL where Antone taught middle school mathematics in Hawthorne School until he became principal of Roosevelt School in Elmhurst. In 1949 they moved to Keota, IA, to assist Antone's father who could no longer operate the large farm he managed, due to his health problems. Katharine was active in Farm Bureau, Extension and Church affairs, and took over the milking on the farm. In 1962 they moved back to Elmhurst where Antone was principal of Eldridge School, and later Hawthorne School. They retired in 1976, and moved to Fulton, MO where they bought a small farm. They kept ponies for the grandchildren and raised beef cattle without additives or hormones for people who were hyper-allergenic. Katharine continued to be active in Extension, Church, and Aging activities and Antone volunteered almost full time at the Sheltered Workshop in Fulton. In 2005 they moved to St. Louis to live in Cape Albeon, a senior living facility near family members. Katharine chose to gift her body to Washington University School of Medicine. Tony and family, Saddened to hear of Kate's passing, JoAnn stopped by the store to let me know yesterday. I have said many times that she and you were assests to our community, always involved, always volunteering, anything to help make peoples life better. I remember when we concreeted the parking lot at the store. Kate and I were walking along on it and she commented how nice it was and then she said, " but it's going to make it about 10 degrees hotter around here this summer", boy was she right. I will always cherish the little chats that we had when she came to the store. Tony, be thankful (I know that you already are) to have had Kate for 70 years and a fine family that I know you are very proud of. Terry Wright.
