It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Kasey Carroll Weber who died unexpectedly on January 18, 2024, in Waco, Texas, at the age of 29. She was born on September 9, 1994, in Downers Grove, IL. Kasey was predeceased by her father, John M. Weber; grandfathers, Patrick E. O'Carroll and Anthony Weber. She is survived by her mother, Deirdre O'Carroll; brother, Johnny L. Weber; grandparents, Áine Rosenbaum and Gerd Rosenbaum; grandmother, Janet Weber; aunts Sheila Halenza, Barbara Follis, Suzie Weber, and Nancy Weber; uncles, Michael O'Carroll, Owen O'Carroll, Daniel C. Halenza, Jay Follis, and Bruce Weber; cousins, Daniel P. Halenza, Stephanie O'Carroll, Nicolette Halenza, Patrick O. O'Carroll, Sydney Weber, and Gabriel Abbene.
Kasey was a graduate of Loyola University earning her degree in biology. She also sang with the choir and was a member of the service fraternity, Alpha Phi Omega. Kasey interned at Crown Ridge Tiger Sanctuary and Brookfield Zoo. She went on to become a mammal keeper at the Fort Wayne Zoo, Fort Worth Zoo, and most recently at the Cameron Park Zoo in Waco, Texas. Kasey's animal advocacy started in early childhood and continued throughout her life. She found her niche at the Cameron Park Zoo where she met a group of like-minded zookeepers. Kasey left behind a legacy of love, fierce determination, community spirit, and a deep passion for the well-being of all creatures.
The family will have a private Celebration of Kasey's Life. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Kasey's name to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Fund, Cameron Park Zoo, or Brookfield Zoo. Actions such as observing Meatless Mondays would also be warmly accepted.
