I transferred to York High School in my Junior Year. The high school cliques were well established by the time I arrived; however, Julie became my friend. She opened doors to alot of other friendships that I formed. I was in awe of her beauty and fabulous wardrobe. Julie had a kind heart. We lost touch over the years, but saw each other at our 40th class reunion. We sat at the same dinner table and had time to catch up on the years.
We had fun remembering our high school days. I was so saddened to hear the news of her passing. I will keep her family in my prayers.

Mama's Hands

I saw you hide your hands in line, behind that lady fair,
I noticed too, hers soft and white - immaculate from care.
But Ma, I say, it’s no disgrace to have workin’ hands like you,
And had she lived the life you have, she’d have hands just like that too.

They’ve never touched a young’n, or caressed a fevered head,
With hands so gently folded, all night beside his bed.

They’ve never scrubbed a kitchen floor, or done dishes everyday.
They’ve never guided with those hands a child who’s lost the way.

They’ve never made a Christmas gift, shaped by a lovin’ hand.
They’ve never peeled apples, nor vegetables they’ve canned.
They’ve never worn a blister, or had calluses to show,
For all they’ve done for others, and the kindnesses I know.

So you see, my dearest Mama – yours are hands of love.
And I bet the Lord will notice when he greets you from above.

Julie and I were friends since the early 70's. We would just keep popping in and out of each other's lives...I've known her as long as I've known my husband..we waitressed at the infamous Sharkos (it seems like forever ago) Chanel and my son Joe started at the Sunbeams and Rainbows preschool program together...watched them grow up...we laughed a lot over the years, did keep people behind me waiting at the Jewel while we caught up (everyone loved her). I'd go in her line even if I only had one thing. I'm going to miss this fine lady very much and my heartfelt sympathies go to Doug, Dougie and Chanel

With 3 hungry boys I spent a lot of time at the Jewel over the past 20 years. Julie always made you feel good when you went through her line. We were all involved in the news when her son was in Iraq and when he finally made it home. We share teenage tales. She was a great lady. I am so sorry she was unable to enjoy the time off that she had worked so hard for. I pray for her family during this very sad time. Annemarie and Steve Toedt Elmhurst

In My Pocket

I have memories in my pocket.
They rattle among the change.

My memories of you are treasures I carry wherever I go.

They are stored in bits and pieces, parts of a beautiful whole
They give me comfort when I think I am alone.

Yes, I have memories in my pocket, like so much other stuff I keep there.

But of all the treasures I have, it’s the memories of you that are the most precious.

Julie and I met at The Magic Pan about 30 years ago. I enjoyed Julie's warm ways and her fantastic sense of style! We were blessed to have her beautiful children, Chanel and Doug, participate in our wedding. Doug... May you, Chanel and Dougie find comfort in all the wonderful memories of Julie. Love, Gwen Grottola

Back in the day that Hawthorne needed extra lunchroom volunteers, Julie (and Debbie) took me under their wings. Julie never minced words and her humor was always a bright spot in the lunchroom. There was no doubt how she loved the kids…
We laughed, and cried in the few years when we worked together. I have always loved seeing her at mass and at the Jewel where we’d catch up. I will miss her and keep my great memories of her alive in my heart. I am so very sorry for all of the Falascos and Julie’s extended family. God bless you all.

I remember as a child whenever we would see Julie, that I would watch her in amazement...for we both shared the same name!! It has been many years since, but I will never forget the energy and smiles she has sketched in my memory. All Our Love Always.

Julie was my first cousin (our mothers were sisters). Our son, who lives in Wheaton just notified us of Julie's passing. He saw her often at the Jewel in Elmhurst. Julie and I were very close as children (although I was 10 years older), but when George and I retired and moved to Michigan, we didn't have the opportunity to see each other (and only exchanged notes at Christmas). Please accept our love, prayers and hugs to her family. She will be missed.

Julie and I went to high school together and then waitressed together in OakBrook. We went to CNA class together and worked at Elmhurst Hospital on the same shift and same floor. I am very sad for her family and friends. I am grateful for the time I knew her and my memories make me smile. Rest in peace, Julie.....

Julie and I have been friends since 8th grade. We went through high school, our "hippie" years and then on to getting married and having children close in ages. We never have lost touch or missed an opportunity to have that glass of wine! I really, really, miss you babe.

Julie and I go way back to when our daughters were in kindergarten together at Hawthorne. We enrolled them (Chanel and Kristin) in AYSO soccer. I remember our laughter as our daughters, on opposing teams, ran hand and hand up and down the field, completely oblivious to the game at hand. I remember how we hugged and prayed with Fr. Brad when Doug was sent to Iraq. I remember the somewhat annoyed looks from customers lined up after me in the check-out line at the Jewel when Julie and I spent too much time "catching up". Julie, I will miss you. My heart goes out to your family.
