Julia Shaffer Obituary

JULIA ANN SHAFFER Julia Ann Shaffer, age 72, died Thursday, September 26, 2013 at home in Elmhurst. She was born to the late Chester and Ruth Shaffer, May 5, 1941 at Elmhurst Hospital. She grew up in Elmhurst in the Frank Lloyd Wright house on Kenilworth Avenue. Julia lived in the downtown area of Elmhurst in her final years of life. She loved to eat at the restaurants that were in walking distance of her home. You could see her almost daily at Subway. She belonged to Immanuel Lutheran Church and loved being part of the ladies groups and paper rollers. Her bible was always close to her on her couch at home. Julia loved all holidays. She would put up her decorations weeks before the holiday. Julia was also a huge Chicago sports fan. Her favorite team was the Chicago Bears. When there was a game on TV, she would be watching it and usually had on the team jersey. Julia was a collector of a variety of things including teapots, miniature figurines of birds and dogs, collectible dolls and much more. Her shelves and cabinets were full. She also loved to paint and much of her work was on her walls. There is so much more to Julia than I put in these few words. She is greatly missed by all, especially her close friends Sandy Moore, Grayson and Carol Haller, and Julia Riley. Burial was Wednesday, October 2, 2013 at Arlington Cemetery in Elmhurst.
