Joy, I still greatly miss you. I remember very fondly the fun times I enjoyed with you, Fred, Scott and Halley. The seventies can never be recaptured, but the memories are so alive and vivid. I wish I had been able to attend your memorial service, but life has its curve balls. See you on the part of our journeys. Love, Richard

I remember first meeting Joy in the 70s. We were all so young, full of the future and blissfully happy. She stood out though. Joy was vibrant and such a thrill to be around. Seeing her through the years, I was reminded that while we all became a bit more bruised and calloused by the realities of adulthood, she retained that youthful vigor. Seeing her and her husband Scott at get togethers, always put a smile on my face and in my heart. My condolences to Scott and family.

Joy - you were such a light that I was immediately drawn to you. You welcomed me into your world with open arms and I felt the kinship, so I often think fondly of times spent together. You were so very dear to me lovely one - a perfect description of irreplaceable. I will miss you always.

Scott - I send my love and warm hugs to you and your family.

Truly a one-of-a- kind individual in a world that gets more derivative every day. My profound condolences" to Joy's husband and boys, who will feel this loss the deepest, but her passing also makes the planet a colder, less colorful and more difficult place.

My dear dear friend, All the years I have known you, I have never known you to be anything but open-hearted and caring, funny and unique. The world is a sadder, darker place now that your sunshine is no longer here!!!!

An Ode to Joy
Joy did that whole pink hair thing long before Cyndi Lauper, and did it better
Joy collected bluebird figurines, pigs, and life masks of actors who played monsters in the films
Joy acted and acted brilliantly. She played Bananas in "The House of Blue Leaves". I was Bunny. I had a hard time being mean to her.
Joy was a fellow Aquarius. "Aquarius 'R Us".
Joy has an infectious laugh, one that rings through the air. Joy can laugh at her own foibles, which allows us to laugh at ours.
Joy has this oddball Peteena doll, which is half doll and half dog.
Joy and I went on two trips together with other girlfriends, to Vegas and to Charleston, SC. We rode in a convertible, drank bellinis, and visited a haunted prison.
Joy finished acting and did Red Cross work, bringing Joy to so many people, but in a different way.
Joy is a beloved wife, mother, friend, sister, co-conspirator, creator, baker, mixologist, and owner of Really Cool Shoes.
Joy has a slight Scottish trill when she speaks.
Joy helped us clean out of a flood once and hugged me while I cried for things lost.
Joy's heart stopped one day. Which broke many of ours.
BUT ...
Joy is neither past, present, or future. Joy just ...IS. And Joy lives up to her name.
Thank you, Joy. Love you. Blessed Be.

My dearest Girl Joyous... for almost 50 years we have laughed and cried together. I don't know how to do this without you. Somehow you just slipped away so quickly and I thought how is that possible? There was only one of you and I'm so proud and happy to have walked through these years with you. Thank you for letting me do that. I will love you forever ...i will carry your companionship in my heart until wehug one another again...

Joy, you were a blessing to all who knew you. I'm not sure which of your parents first suggested that name, or whether it was a mutual decision - but it was the perfect name for you. Few people radiated such innate happiness, and it was infectious.

Anyone who knew you, would agree with the statement that we were all honored and lucky to have had you in our lives. Ferociously loyal to family and friends, nurturing to anyone in pain, and able to extend that compassion far beyond your own circle, as evidenced by your long association with the Red Cross as a coordinator during natural disasters.

You also had the uncanny ability to understand others better than they knew themselves. Like a true friend, you'd offer me comfort when it was needed. And like the true friend you were, you'd tell me what I needed to hear, even if - especially if - it was something I didn't want to. Very few people will do that; only the ones who truly care.

The world was a better place with your presence. Rest now, dear one.

Joy, I am simply more of the crowd of people whose lives were enriched by having you as a part.
I remember meeting you at the Earl of Old Town in Chicago on my very first tour as a recording artist in 1973. We became instant friends and stayed that way. Blessings on your journey, you will be missed.
