Joseph Salerno Obituary

Joseph P. Salerno

Joseph P. Salerno, 97, of Elmhurst and formerly of Green Valley, AZ, Franklin Park, IL and Chicago, IL, passed away November 27, 2017.

Joseph was a Captain in the United States Army, a Third Degree Knight of Columbus, a minister of Communion at Visitation Church, a school volunteer and a life-long Cubs fan. A devout Catholic, he prayed the Rosary daily.

Joseph was preceded in death by his beloved wife Ivy "Cherry"; he was the loving father of Carol (Bill) Sir; treasured grandpa of Andrew (Amanda); and dearest GG to Avery and Adi; fond brother of Pauline (the late Frank) Padalik. He was also preceded in death by brothers and sisters, Pasquale (the late Louise), Frank (the late Josephine), Nellie (the late Bill) Craig, Mary (the late Victor) Rieber, Philomena (the late Willard) Padalik and Virginia (the late John) Gorsky.

He was Uncle Joe to many dear nieces and nephews.

Services and entombment private.

Donations to The Society of St. Vincent de Paul, 10525 Delta Parkway, Schiller Park, IL 60176 or www.svdpchicago.org, the oldest charity in Chicago helping those in need, would be greatly appreciated.
