Joseph Ruzicka Obituary

Joseph P. Ruzicka, born on Valentine's Day in 1917, Joseph P. Ruzicka lived in Chicago above his parents' bakery and matriculated from Mt. Carmel high school. After hard times during the Great Depression, Joseph attended Yale's College of Art and received a degree. He became an artist and lithographer and had a painting studio in Chicago producing many abstract works of art. In fact in the 1960s one of Joseph's largest paintings traveled around the globe in a show for the Chicago Art Institute and was later exhibited at the University of Chicago. He married in 1953 and is survived by his wife Suzanne, his daughters Robin ( Adrian ) Berrie, Laurel (Randy) Erickson and Elaine Ruzicka as well as his grandsons Alex and Adam Erickson. After his retirement he and his wife enjoyed taking art and history classes and touring the great cities of Europe. Joseph was well read in a variety of subjects and an avid computer user. He was a loving husband and father, who was optimistic, bright and funny until his passing at age 93, on May 28, 2010. He will be greatly missed.
