John Wood Obituary

John H. Wood, age 57, a resident of Colorado Springs since 1981 and formerly of Addison, Illinois, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, April 20, 2012 at Red Rock Canyon Open Space. He had served his country in the United States Marine Corps Reserves, and had been a manager for various retail convenience stores. John Harvey Wood was born on October 23, 1954 in San Bernardino, California to the late Billie Clyde and Neva Joyce (Wakins) Wood. He was a 1973 graduate of Addison Trail High School in Addison, Illinois. He married Sally Rae Haddox on August 19, 1978 in Addison. John was also a massage therapist who enjoyed hiking, traveling, and music. He is survived by his loving wife: Sally; two brothers: Curtis (LuAnn) Wood of Littleton; and Neal Wood of Denver. He also has two sisters: Pam (Stephen) Wood of Portland, Oregon; and Diana "Dee" Wood of Denver; and several nieces and nephews. A celebration of his life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on May 5, 2012 at the Gold Hill Mesa Community Room, 142 South Raven Mine Dr., Colorado Springs, CO 80905. Memorials may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 1355 S Colorado Boulevard, Suite 200, Denver, Colorado 80222. John will be best remembered for his loving kindness, generous heart, contagious laugh, and his wonderful smile. He will be dearly missed.
