John Butler Obituary

John D. Butler, 55, of DeKalb, IL, passed away Saturday, October 25, 2008, at his home. He was born October 2, 1953 in DeKalb the son of Douglas M. and Elizabeth (Romano) Butler. He married Linda S. Landis, formerly of Naperville, IL, August 25, 2001 in Wheaton, IL. John was a Brick and Stone Mason and was a member of B.A.C. local in Wheaton, IL. He was a member of Glad Tidings Assembly of God Church. John was a collector of antiques and a jack of all trades. He is survived by his wife, Linda; his son, Brad Butler of Lombard, Ill.; his daughter, Jennifer Butler of Lewisville, Texas; two grandchildren, Alison Butler, Skylar Terwilliger; three step sons, Ben, Tim, and James Kirkpatrick all of Naperville, IL; three brothers, Richard Butler and Glenn Butler both of DeKalb, IL Darryl Butler of Rockford, IL; two sisters, Michelle (Jim) Busse of St. Louis, Missouri, Pam (Jeff) Lifschitz of Deerfield, IL; many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents and grandparents. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 31, 2008 at Glad Tidings Assembly of God Church in DeKalb, IL. with Pastor Mike Massey officiating. Interment of cremated remains will be at a later date at the Malta Cemetery in Malta, IL. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 30, 2008 at the Anderson Funeral Home in DeKalb, IL. A memorial is being established for John D. Butler in care of the Anderson Funeral Home Ltd., P.O. Box 605, 2011 South 4th Street, DeKalb, IL 60115. For information, please call Anderson Funeral Home at 815-756-1022

I went to school with John for many years..He was always kind to me..He used to have these bird whistles, the ones you put in your mouth..I think hunters probably use them..I always thought John was a nice guy...I am so sorry for your loss. We are the same age...
