Jean Hohol Obituary

Jean Margaret Hohol, 69, of Bloomingdale, IL, formerly of St. Louis, MO passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 12, 2011 at home. Born in England during the Blitz on London in 1941, Jean was the daughter of Roger Leslie Spindler and Mabel (Farmer) Spindler, both of whom preceded her in death. She is survived by her husband, Richard Phillip Hohol (Bloomingdale, IL); daughter, Melanie Jean Altmann (Arnold, MO); son, Edward Still (Coalgate, OK); granddaughter, Tessa Jean Altmann King; grandson, Alex Wilhelm Altmann; great-granddaughter, Goldie Jean King; sister, Mabel Ellen Taylor; brother-in-law, Brian William Taylor (Knutsford Chesire, UK); and niece, Sally Rebecca Taylor (Ilford Essex, UK). Also preceding her in death were her beloved pets, Moses and Sophie. Receiving her education and academic success in England, Jean was also an award-winning track star in school. Married to Richard on May 30, 1992 in St. Louis, MO., Jean artfully blended her financial & accounting business with Richard's financial & tax business in Roselle, IL. As the founder of Chartered Consultants, Inc., Jean practiced as an accountant, tax specialist and financial planner and was passionate about helping individuals to achieve their life planning dreams and goals, and was a mentor and role model to many. Jean lived her life in the same way she encouraged others - to make the most of each day and to plan for the future. The lives she touched are too numerous to count. Jean's hobbies and interests were many and diverse - including her great love of animals and her enthusiasm for geology and gemology. As well, she was proud of being named as one of the 100 Influential Women of the Harper College Educational Foundation, and of being showcased in the "Finding Strength" exhibit, currently on display at Barrington's Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital. A quote she lived by was that "Cancer gives you time to plan and to do things that you always wanted to do. It is possible to have cancer and still be healthy." The family sends a special thank you to Dr. John Ayres, Wellness Place, and Sara and all of the staff at CNS Hospice. Private services. Memorial donation to the Hohol Family Endowment at the Harper College Educational Foundation, 1200 W. Algonquin Rd., Palatine, IL 60067 or Best Friends Animal Society, 5001 Angel Canyon Rd., Kanab, Utah 84741

Some people just shine a little brighter in this world and make life better for everyone around them. That's how Jean was. Her spirit lit the way for the rest of us to follow. Her kind heart and generous soul showed us how a life should be lived. I am blessed to have had her in my life. My friend, I love you and will miss you.

Thank you so much for allowing me to care for Jean, she was a remarkable woman and she was such an inspiration. You did a wonderful job respecting her wishes at the end of her life by allowing her the dignity to die peacefully at home.
