Jane Kindl Obituary

Jane Kindl passed away October 9, 2012 at her home surrounded by loved ones. For all of those who knew her, they know she is now an angel in Heaven. Jane was born in 1924 in Oak Park, IL to Stella and J.R. Chambers. She grew up in IL. When Jane was 49 years old she had a massive stroke that left her left side paralyzed. Her doctor once asked her how she maintains such a positive, spiritual attitude. Her reply was I can either make life miserable for myself and the people around me or I can call this wheelchair my friend and get on with life. In 1982 she, her husband Tony and Mother, Stella moved to McAllen, TX. to be closer to her daughter, Debbie. She became involved with St. Mark's Methodist Church, got her driver's license and lived a fairly independent life. In July of 2004 she had to move into an assisted living facility because she was no longer able to transfer herself from her wheelchair as the result of a quadruple bypass. There she continued to flourish, making new friends and inspiring many. She never gave up on life. She lived for seven years in assisted livings. It took a family of people to care for her. Many thanks go out to The Bridges, Waterford Gardens, Crossroads Assisted Living, Arise Home Health Care (Dora and Rick) and finally to Maribel Rodriguez and her family who took her into their own home and cared for her with so much love as if she was their own Mother. They are all an amazing, dedicated group of people. Last but not least, many thanks to Dr. Olga Olivares-Herrera along with her staff of Alberto Herrera and Estrella. Dr. Olga managed our Mom's care to ensure that our Mom had the quality of life she so wanted. Thank you to all!! She was preceded in death by her father, J.R. Chambers, her husband Tony Kindl, and her mother Stella Chambers. She is survived by her son; Jeff (Patti) Kindl of Metairie, LA; her daughters, Debbie (Pete) Carney of McAllen, TX and Jan Kindl of Chicago, IL. Also surviving her are her grandchildren; Sean (Sara) Carney of Harlingen, TX, Paul (Jennifer) Carney of San Antonio, TX, Erica (Michael) Chase of Charleston, SC, Ryan (Leslie) Donegan of New Orleans, LA, Shannon Donegan of New Orleans, LA, Michael Smiddy of Chicago, IL and Christine Carney of Ft. Worth, TX; six great grandchildren; and her brother, Reed (Shirley) Chambers of Wayne, PA. The family suggests that friends may make memorial contributions to Maribel Rodriguez, 5056 Mile 8 Rd., Edinburg, TX 78540 as we want Maribel to be able to continue to help other people and their families as she helped us. A private cremation will take place for the family. Kreidlerfuneralhome.com

From taking me along on family vacations to simply hanging out at the Kindl home, I will always remember her kindness, laughter, love, and grace in all she did, as well as her acceptance of a life altering stroke, which she did not allow to restrict her - such an example. She raised quite a wonderful family and my closest friend, whom I am blessed to have in my life. Mrs. Kindl had a significant impact on my childhood. I often think of her, which continues to bring smiles to my face. Can't forget her unique decoupage, either. Beautiful memories. . .thank you, Mrs. Kindl. . .you are loved and missed.

We were more than highschool friends, we were sisters and have kept in touch with each other over the years. I shall miss her more than you know. Thanks Debbie for calling me.
