James Joseph "Jay" Svehla
Born: March 11, 1957 in Blue Island, IL
Died: January 28, 2023 in Paris, TN
James Joseph "Jay" Svehla, age 65 of Springville, TN, died Saturday, January 28, 2023, at AHC of Paris.
He retired after 35 years of teaching Junior High, a career that he loved. He was a huge sports fan, and especially loved the Chicago Cubs and football. He had a passion for traveling, music, playing pool, and his furry friends. He treasured every moment he had with his family and friends. He adored his lake house in TN where he retired to.
Jay was born March 11, 1957, in Blue Island, IL, to the late James Joseph Svehla, Jr., and the late Patricia Schoeler.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by one sister, Sandy McClain.
He was married to Denise Hahne Svehla, who survives, of Springville, TN. They were together for over 35 years.
Along with his wife, he is also survived by two daughters, Leeanne Farnand of AZ, and Megan White of TN; one sister, Sue (Bob) Buckles of IL; one brother, Scott (Linda) Svehla of IL; one brother-in-law, Mike McClain of IL; two grandchildren, Lilly and Zakky; several nieces, nephews, and other family members; and his 2 beloved dogs, Girlfriend and Angel.
Local arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap Street/PO Box 788, Paris, TN 38242. The body is to be cremated with a celebration of life to be held in Plainfield, IL on May 20, 2023. Details will be announced later. Interment will be private.
The family requests memorials be made to any Animal Shelter or Humane society of the donor's choosing.
