James Herman Obituary

James M. Herman
Born: August 13, 1954
Died: April 8, 2022
James M. Herman, 67 of Clinton, passed away peacefully on April 8, 2022, with his son James Brian (Little Jim) by his side. Big Jim, as many called him, was born to Mary (née Goben) and Daniel Herman on August 13, 1954, at St. Mary of Nazareth Hospital in Chicago. He lived most of his life in Cicero, where he started his own family before moving to Darien in 1992. Jim enjoyed fishing in Winneconne, WI, where he spent most of his childhood weekends at his parents' cottage, where later he taught his son to fish. Throughout the years, the cottage was the place where he created numerous memories with his son, uncles, aunts, cousins and many friends. Some of his passions were watching horse races (and betting on them), collecting coins, model Nascars, buying lottery tickets from Nick's Quick Mart in Willowbrook, and telling stories from his days at Boerman's, where he worked for almost 40 years. In 2014, Jim moved to Clinton, Illinois, where he lived with his cousin Vera Bright until the last days of his life. In Clinton, Jim enjoyed his afternoon visits with neighbors and going to get his lottery tickets from the Big D Liquor Store drive thru and the Marathon gas station (because everyone knows you can't buy all your tickets in the same place!). Jim is survived by his son James Brian, his grandsons Tyler and Eric, and many loving family and friends.
