Jacqueline Fricke Obituary

Jacqueline Lang Fricke

Jacqueline "Jackie" Lang Fricke (nee Plein), 94, longtime resident of Elmhurst, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt, passed away peacefully on August 24, 2018.

Beloved wife of Larry Fricke; mother of Holly (Phil) Coffin; step-mother of Paula (Carol) Fricke, Ann (Bart) Ost, and Jean (Dan) Hursh. Grandmother of Roger (Emma), Peter and Jennifer Coffin, Ben (Julia) Ost, Bekah (Dan) Carlson, and Andy and Daniel Hursh. Great-grandmother of Beatrice Ost.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Esther Plein; and her first husband of 30 years, Roger Lang.

Born in 1924 in Harvey, IL, and raised in Dubuque, Iowa, Jackie met Roger Lang in Dubuque and they were married in 1950. Jackie and Roger moved to Elmhurst in 1952, where their daughter Holly was born and raised. She and Roger enjoyed 30 years of marriage until he passed away in 1980.

A few years later, Jackie met Larry Fricke through mutual friends. They were married in 1983, and over the next 35 years, enjoyed a loving marriage along with two families who blended together to have some wonderful times and provide mutual family love and support.

She was a great role model, and along with her husband Larry, an active participant in and supporter of many activities and programs at Elmhurst College.

Her passions also included life's finer touches, such as chocolate, fashion and dining out. An avid bridge player, reader and lover of cross-word puzzles, Jackie enjoyed her senior years as a doting grandmother who attended countless athletic events and performances of her grandchildren.

Throughout her life in Elmhurst, she enjoyed deep and supportive lifelong friendships with many whom she first met during her early years in Elmhurst.

She will be sorely missed and remembered by the many family and friends whose lives she touched. We hold many fond memories of her which we will cherish.

A private interment with family took place at Mt. Emblem Cemetery on August 26th and a service celebrating her life will be held on Sunday, September 23, at 1:00 p.m. at St. Peter's United Church of Christ, 125 W. Church St, Elmhurst, IL, with a reception to follow at a location to be announced.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Jackie's memory can be made to Elmhurst College (www.elmhurst.edu) or the Alzheimer's Association (www.alz.org) and are warmly appreciated.
