Henry Thiele Obituary

Henry F. Thiele, Jr., 96 of Bass Lake Pentwater and Wheaton, IL passed away Monday, February 28th, 2011, surrounded by his family at Loyola Medical Center in Illinois. He was married to Kathlyn Barton and she preceded him in death in 1999. He resided in Wheaton, Il since 1948 and retired to Bass Lake in 1994. He was affiliated with the Emanuel Lutheran Church and a graduate of Austin High School in Chicago. He attended Armour Institute (I.T.T.) also in Chicago. He was a member and past Commander of the DuPage Power Squadron and was with the US Coast Guard Auxiliary. He was a Vessel Examiner-Instructor-AUXOP, Flotilla 18, Div 10, District 9wR, also a life member of Rotary International in Ludington and Wheaton and was noted for his 1955 turquoise Ford pickup truck anytime elephant ears were sold by the Ludington Rotary Club. He was formerly active at the White Pine Village in Ludington. Mr. Thiele was an original founder of Central DuPage Hospital of Winfield, IL and a benefactor to Memorial Medical Center of West Michigan. He is survived by 2 sons Henry B. (Mary) Thiele of Bass Lake and Craig N. (Mary) Thiele of Roseville, MN, 7 grandchildren, Henry (Annel), Michael (Jessica), Edward, Russell, & Frederick Thiele, Lisa (Ted) Hippe, Christine Witzany, 3 great grandchildren, Maria,& Henry Thiele and Jasmine Hippe, 1 niece and 2 nephews. Besides his wife he was preceded in death by 1 brother Howard Thiele, 1 sister Bernice Woeltje. A memorial service will be announced in the Spring. In lieu of flowers memorial offerings would be appreciated to the Rotary Club of Ludington Charities at 1741 N. Marilyn Dr, Ludington, MI 49431 or a charity of choice.
