Harris Gorder Obituary

Harris William "Bill" Gorder, age 78, a resident of Glen Ellyn, passed away September 11, 2011 at the North Eastern Hospice in Barrington after a long battle with Alzheimers. Bill was born August 10, 1933 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, to Olaf and Shirley Gorder. He was raised and educated in Sioux Falls. After four years service in the Air Force, he continued his education at Augastana College in Sioux Falls. He then went on to work for the U.S. Post Service as a "numbers cruncher". He loved to travel, work in the garden and was a perfectionist about his lawn. One of his many loves was Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Wheaton and his best friend, his dog Mittsy. Bill is survived by his beloved wife, Dolores; his loving children, Tim Gorder, Jill (Dave) Hach, Valerie (Sal) Dalo, and the late Rebecca Sue Mol; dear grandfather of 8 and great-grandfather of 6. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Noah Mol. A Memorial Visitation will be held Saturday, September 7th at 10am until time of Memorial Service 11am at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 802 E. Geneva Rd., Wheaton, IL 60187. In lieu of flowers, donations to the church would be appreciated. Arrangements entrusted to Leonard Memorial Home, Glen Ellyn (630) 469-0032.
