Grace Abrahamson Obituary

Grace Marie Abrahamson, born May 6, 1940 to Joseph and Margaret Johnston, died peacefully Thursday, July 21, 2011 at Adventist LaGrange Memorial Hospital surrounded by her family. She was the beloved wife of Brant Abrahamson; beloved sister of Joe (Mary) Johnston, Chuck (Cathy) Johnston, Bill (Brenda) Johnston, Mary Elizabeth (Andy Dane) Ferraro; loving mother of Steve (Cindy), John (Cynthia), Mike and Bryan (Lisa); and proud grandmother of Anthony Sexton, Sean Smith, Kristen Barger, Brett Barger, Alexander Barger and Roman Abrahamson. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her daughter, Tanya Abrahamson. Grace grew up in many cities in the eastern US and put down roots in the Chicago area during high school. Determined not to move her own family, she raised her family in Brookfield, IL, where she lived until her death. After a career in home health and hospice nursing, she retired to enjoy traveling the world (all 50 states and 6 continents), biking, watching her grandchildren and volunteering at the theater, political events and social causes. A celebration of her life will be at 7 P. M., Sept. 24th at the Unitarian Church of Hinsdale. In lieu of flowers, please contribute to Grace's favorite charities including Theater of Western Springs, the Unitarian Church of Hinsdale and the National Organization of Women. Call the Unitarian Church (630 323 2885) for information.
