Gladys Grace Simon, age 86, of Bolingbrook, passed away on February 4, 2017, surrounded by her children.

Gladys was born on September 17, 1930 to Pauline & Joseph Opat in Chicago, IL. She married Joseph Simon on June 2, 1951 and spent the next two years in Maryland and Georgia while Joe was in the army.

They returned to Illinois and built the house in Westchester where they raised four children. Gladys was a homemaker and also a banquet waitress at Lilac Lodge in Hillside and Holiday Inns in Hillside, Glen Ellyn, and Willowbrook. They lived in Las Vegas, NV for over 7 years before returning to Illinois to live with their son, Joe.

Gladys was preceded in death by her husband Joseph.

She is survived by her children son, Mark (Donna) Simon; daughter, Carol Lumpkins; son, Joseph Simon; son, Scott (Kimberly) Simon; sister, Diana Helwig; grandchildren, Ashley and Erik Lumpkins; and great-granddaughter, Olivia Arias.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Bolingbrook, IL on Feb. 9, 2017. Interment at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, IL will be private.
