Geraldine Rocska Obituary
Geraldine Rocska , nee Ruszowski, age 82, of Elmhurst, IL. Beloved wife of 52 years of the late Edward Michael; loving mother of Karen (Winfred) Shood, Mark, James, Steven (Josephine), Sharon (Jeffrey) Flink, Annette, and the late Edward Michael Jr.; proud grandmother of Bradley and Steven Shood and Kathryn and Ryan Flink; dear sister of the late Anthony Ruszowski Jr. (Carolyn), Charlotte Ruszowski and Eleanor (Fred) Miele; cherished daughter of the late Anthony and the late Pearl, nee Pisarski, Ruszowski.
Gerri attended the legendary Washington High School, East Chicago, Ind., class of 1952, and she was known for her smile. Graduated, worked as a bookkeeper in a furniture store. She married Eddie, June 11, 1955, and they resided in Hessville IN. Gerri had 5 children, was a full time mom who kept an impeccable home. The family moved to Elmhurst in the early 1960's and added 2 more children.
Gerri was of Polish ancestry and traditions. Her cooking, baking and pastries were amazing and well sought after. After her children were grown she worked part-time as a home health aide, in a dry cleaners and restaurants. Besides family, other interest include dancing, canning, gardening, and camping.
Her children were raised in the Catholic faith, and she instilled in them the virtues of hard work, perseverance and prudence. She adored her grand-children. Gerri had many health problems during her lifetime but endured them without complaint.
She lives forever in the hearts of all who love her.
