I cried when I saw George's obituary. My husband and I were good friends of Bette and George. And we couldn't have better friends. We met when we all lived in North Austin. I'm thinking now of bridge games, religious discussions, their sponsering me for Walk to Emmaus, a trip to the lake, their parties, and fun arguing with George. He'd take one side of an issue and I the other. I can't recall the subjects or how any of those discussions turned out, but I recall he was good at stating his side of the subject--even though, of course, I was always right!
