George Borneman Obituary

Rev. George H. Borneman, 93, a resident of Elmhurst, IL since 1962 and former LaGrange resident from 1947 until 1962 died Thursday, Dec. 4, 2008, in Elmhurst. He was born Feb. 17, 1915, in Elkhart, Indiana, to George O. and Zella (Howard) Borneman. Surviving are his wife Jean M. Borneman of Elmhurst; 5 children: Janet Laub (Leon), Nancy Prince (Ken), Mary Sheline, Thomas McKenney (Martha), and Anne Brown (Dale); 11 grandchildren; 2 brothers, John Borneman and Bill Borneman; and many nieces and nephews. He served in the Navy during World War II, became a Presbyterian minister, and was a minister to the homeless of Chicago for the last 23 years. He survived his first wife, Henrietta S. Borneman, his parents, and his sister Kathryn (Lansche). A memorial service will be held at the Yorkfield Presbyterian Church, 1099 S. York Road , Elmhurst , IL , on Dec. 27, 2008, at 1 PM. Ph: 630/833-6600. Memorial contributions may be sent to the Yorkfield Presbyterian Church, for use in mission work.

George was the best example of selflessness and love. He was committed to serve others without any desire for recognition. He found only positive things to say about people and kept a sense of humor at all times. We will cherish his memories and the lessons he taught us.
