Frank Farmer Obituary

DUFFIELD, Va. – Frank Linkous Farmer, 85, formerly of Norton, died Saturday, Feb. 24, 2007, at Norton Community Hospital.
Born in Tazewell County, Va., to the late Fred and Sarah (Nunley) Farmer, he was a retired mechanic with Paramont Mining Corporation. Mr. Farmer, of the Pentecostal faith, was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Army. He was a co-founder of the Jasper Volunteer Fire Department, where he was fondly referred to as "The Boss." He was preceded in death by sons-in-law, Bob Chappel and Ivan Hughes
He is survived by his wife Mae Farmer; and his children and spouses, Helen (Russell) Nunley, Bluefield, W.Va., Billie Chappel, Waynesboro, Va., Linda (Dick) Beverly, Charlottesville, Va., Terry Hughes, Afton, Va., Johnny William (Jearline) Farmer, Norton, Frank Daniel (Sherri) Farmer, Duffield, Debra (Roger) Addison, Norton, Edward (Deborah) Farmer, Mount Sterling, Ky., Robert Darryl Farmer, Norton, and Lisa (Greg) Barnett, Norton. There are 18 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, as well as a host of close friends.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday at the Hagy & Fawbush Funeral Home in Norton. Funeral services will be conducted at 8 p.m. in the funeral home chapel, with the Rev. Freddie Powers and the Rev. Tommy Shell officiating. Family and friends will gather Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home, where they will travel in procession to Powell Valley Memorial Gardens for graveside committal and burial. Units from the Jasper Volunteer Fire Department will provide escort for the funeral procession.
