Folu Phillips Obituary

Folu Phillips, 26, died on February 26, 2008 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove, IL. Folu was born February 18, 1982 in Corona, CA to Yinka and Grace Phillips. Folu went to Lace School, Eisenhower Jr. High School and graduated from Hinsdale South High School in Darien, IL in June 2000. He then graduated from the University of Illinois, Urbana Champaign as a President Scholar, in May 2004 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics. He was an Account Analyst at Farrington Transportation, Bolingbrook, IL from 2004 to 2005. He later became a Business Consultant for Indus, Inc., Atlanta, GA from 2005 to 2007. After he left Indus, Inc. he started work as an Independent Trader, which he did until his death. Folu was very active in several voluntary organizations including Habitat for Humanity in Chicago. At Discovery with Henderson Program (through Chicago Cares), he mentored troubled Junior High students and taught them how to improve their self-esteem. He also donated generously for the St. Judes Children Research Hospital to help aid children with catastrophic diseases. Folu is survived by his parents Yinka and Grace Phillips and four brothers, Dipo, Dotun, Seun and Ayo. May his gentle soul rest in peace. Amen. Folu will always live in my heart. It is difficult at times to fathom that my brother Folu has passed away, but I know God has his plans. There are multiple memories that I have of Folu and these memories will remain in my mind FOREVER. I miss you Folu and will work hard to make sure your name lives forever. You are now in a better place and I know that you will be our guardian angel.

A great person has been lost, and i would miss folu a lot. May God give the phillips family the energy to stay strong through these testing times. Folu was a blessing in my life, i am glad and thankfull that i got to know him and spend time with him. even though i just got the oppurtunity to spend a couple of years with folu, i would cherish those memories for a life time. luv Cuz

I am very sorry to hear about your loss. I was a next door neighbor to Folu for many years. I have fond memories of playing our "series" basketball games, arguing about the NFL, and having sleep overs to play Tecmo Bowl all night. He was taken way too young, your family will be in the prayers of mine.
