Elizabeth Anderson Obituary

Elizabeth J. Anderson

Elizabeth J. "Bebe" Anderson (nee Bonnes), age 87, peacefully left this earth rejoining her beloved husband of 40 years, Donald Anderson who preceded her in death.

Sweet, loving mother of David (Debbie), Paul, Mary Beth Anderson (Bill Bryant), Jim (Paula), and Mark (Karen). Most cherished and adored grandmother to Karen Emily, Erik, Ben, Nick, Kristine, Tommy, Danny, Katie, Christopher Bryant, and Lauren Bryant. Devoted daughter of the late Frank and Gladys Bonnes and loving sister to the late Margaret Quoss. Beloved aunt to 10 nieces and 3 nephews and dedicated great-aunt to over thirty.

Elizabeth was a vivacious and active person throughout her life. She graduated from the University of Illinois with a Bachelor's of Art in 1949, working as a commercial artist for advertising agencies until she began her career as a cherished mother to her five children. Despite crisscrossing the country in support of Don's work she always found time to be a contributing member of the community. Her volunteer works included being a Den/Pack leader for Cub & Boy Scout troops, an Art Educator/"Picture Lady" in the Glen Ellyn schools and past member and ultimately President of the Glen Ellyn Infant Welfare Society.

At a time when many her age would be considering retirement choices, Elizabeth returned to the work force in 1984 as Director of the Glen Ellyn Food Pantry . She found tremendous meaning in this occupation for over 25 years delivering compassionate care to those needing support in their life. In honor of her dedication and contribution to the community Elizabeth was named Glen Ellyn Citizen of the year in 2009. Elizabeth will be remembered as a sweet, gentle, loving and open minded soul whose kind spirit touched and brightened numerous lives. She will be greatly missed.

Visitation Monday, July 20th, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Leonard Memorial Home 565 Duane St, Glen Ellyn. Funeral Mass Tuesday, July 21st, 10:00 a.m. at St. James the Apostle, 490 S. Park Blvd, Glen Ellyn with interment at Assumption Cemetery in Wheaton to follow the services.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to Allie's Friends Foundation (alliesfriendsfoundation.org) or The Glen Ellyn Food Pantry. A collection basket for non-perishable food items will be available at the Funeral Home and mourners are requested to bring donations to benefit the Food Pantry.
