Just googled Edythe's name today, so I could send her a Christmas Card. I was saddened to see that she had passed. She was my godmother and a cousin to my mother, My thoughts and prayers are with you.

I was sorry to hear of Edy's passing. I worked with Edy for many years at Osco and still enjoyed seeing her there after I left. She was a wonderful person and I can only imagine how she will be missed. Edy also knew my mother (and father) from the early Westmont days. She always had fun things to say about their old days. My thoughts are with her family, and all who knew her.

I just found out about Aunt Edie’s passing. She’s the last of her generation in our family so it is truly the End of an Era. I think of her with fondness. My condolences to her daughters, my cousins, and their families.

Mom was an amazing woman who blessed us with love and oodles of patience. Her work ethic was renowned. She raised seven children, six of whom were daughters. When her own children went to school, she took care of neighborhood children during the day. At the age of 40+, she learned to drive so she could go to work at Turnstyle, later to become Jewel/Osco. She worked the camera/liquor department for 45+ years, until digital cameras made making prints obsolete, and retired at the age of 89. She took care of the family planning, making and serving meals for nine and organizing the assistance of her children to get the task done. Every year we spent a week at Lake Ripley with friends and family. Mom planned and packed seven kids, Dad and herself, food, supplies and beach paraphernalia for a week into a station wagon filled to the brim, including the nine members of her family. She was most famous for her Christmas celebrations. The house was fully decorated, Christmas cookies were baked, gifts were bought and hidden, stockings were hung, and family gatherings were organized. It was, and still is, a huge part of her children's memories. She dearly loved our dad and took care of him, finding ways to keep seven kids quiet while Dad slept during the day. She and Dad traveled extensively enjoying gatherings of his Navy comrades who became fast friends. As Dad struggled with diabetes and dialysis, she took care of him, making sure he was comfortable. She spent her last few years at Sunrise and during the Covid crisis, when her children couldn't get to hug and hold her physically, she joined us during Zoom sessions, always staying positive and expressing delight in seeing her children. We were in awe of her fortitude and determination in facing her physical and mental challenges. When the pain became overwhelming she resorted to humming Amazing Grace. Mom waited until all her kids could make it to visit her and then she quietly followed the angels to find Dad. You may finally rest. You deserve it. God bless you and grant you his Amazing Grace. We love you Mom.
