Dwight D. Eisenhower, 77, of Hazle Twp. passed away Saturday morning at his home following a sudden illness.
Born in Conyngham on May 27, 1944, he was the son of the late Raymond and Mabel (Ravert) Eisenhower and spent the past 50 years in Hazle Twp.
Dwight was a baker for Spalding Bakery and also worked at Lobitz Catering, Hazleton. He was of the Lutheran faith. He was a simple man who loved his family and providing for them. He enjoyed fishing and car racing in his spare time.
He was preceded in death, in addition to his parents, by his brothers, Howard, James, Kenneth and Oliver Eisenhower, and a sister, Gladys Hricak.
Surviving are his loving wife, Mae (Reader) Eisenhower, to whom he was married on Oct. 5, 1968, in Conyngham; a son, Dwight D. Eisenhower Jr. and his wife, Deborah, Drums; daughter, Lewella Finnegan and her husband, Terrance, Ashley; three stepgrandchildren; eight step-great-grandchildren; one step-great-great-granddaughter; a brother, Clarence Eisenhower and his wife, Susan, Conyngham; and many nieces and nephews.
His funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Friday in Bethel Hill Cemetery, 15 Saxe Road, Sweet Valley.
