Dorothy Smith Obituary

Dorothy L Parkhurst Smith of Crown Point, Indiana passed away on August 21, 2008. Dorothy was born on November 26, 1930 in Pittsfield, Mass, but spent her childhood in Pontiac, Illinois. Dorothy is preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Norris Smith. The Smiths resided in Darien, Illinois for 40 years before retiring to Houghton Lake, Michigan where they lived for 15 years. Dorothy moved to Indiana when Norris passed away in 2006. Dorothy was active in the Darien Community Library for many years starting when there was only a bus, Darien's Women's Society and the United Methodist Church of Westmont. She is survived by four children, Lachlan (Janet) DeSmith, Karen (Derek) Liwoch, Iris (Mark) Varlan, Jesse Smith, one brother and four grandchildren. Memorial Service to be held at Church of Four Seasons United Methodist - 9100 E 109th St., Winfield (Crown Point) IN. In lieu of flowers the family asks for a donation to the United Methodists Church or the National Audubon Society.
