Although I hadn't seen or talked to Don since high school, I have many fond memories of us as kids spending hours skating "on the hill" in Dixon and hours in my living room dancing and dancing and dancing. Even back then I knew he had a special calling. I was surprised when a friend of mine from Dixon informed me of his passing. It seems he lead a blessed life and leaves behind a legacy of love. Memories are something that cannot be taken from us and I hope his wife and children will be comforted by those wonderful memories of the life they shared with Don.

Father Castle (Padre!) was truly a godsend when he and Carla came to Lombard. The fond memories I have of him are too numberous to express here. The significant ones are these: On the way to a retreat in Wisconsin he put me in the driver's seat of that old green camero and said drive. My first experience with a stick. Taking Credo to the tilton hilton of West Virgina. Kicking my butt in racquet ball. Finally, he sat me in his office as a 20-something and gave it to me straight when it came to making a tough relationship decision.

Missed? Most assuredly. Forgotten? No. Impactful? The evidence is everywhere.

I am at a loss for words. I grew up in Lombard, went to Glenbard East and for a long time attended Calvary. I remember when I was 16 I went on a youth trip with the 10 other kids and Father Castle to Colorado to help unfortunate families. Father Castle married my wife and I in September of 99. For Myself and My family you will be missed, Father...

I met Father Castle at Lexington Health Center in 2001. He was visiting parishners of Calvery and I was visiting my Dad. As he was leaving the dining area I asked if he was an Episcapalian Priest and he responded Yes. Dad was living with me and was in Lexington for a bit of therapy following a broken arm. When Dad came home (He was 97 at the time and suffering from Dementia Father Castle came to see him often and to bring Communion. He then buried Dad from Calvery and I appreciated that. When my grandaughter was going into 1st grade at Manor Hill School she was scheduled to have Mrs. Castle as her teacher but unfortunately Father had become ill and he immediately went on my prayer list where he has remained until Sunday when it was announced at St. Pius that he had passed away. He has now moved to my list of deceased friends and relative, and in fact has joined my husband to passed away in September of this year. Carla our prayers and thoughts go out to you and your children. He will me missed but you know he no longer has to suffer. The Trapp Family

Donald was a good neighbor, friend, and father figure to my daughter when I was single. He was a loyal and faithful friend to my husband and family when I married. Donald's own fight gave me strength as our son fought cancer. He was a truly good soul and it was an honor to call him friend. My condolences to his wonderful wife Carla and to his children Donald and Ruth Ann.

I am deeply saddened by the news of of Don's passing. I played racquetball with him for years at the Glass Courts, where he was greatly loved and respected. He always had a smile on his face and a good word for everyone. Being around him was always a pleasure.

You will be missed by everyone, Don.

The sad loss of dear Father Castle is as though I lost my Dad again. I can clearly see the two of them standing at the altar. They were two men serving their Lord; my dad with a serious scowl and Donald with a smile and a sparkle in his eye. I will greatly miss Father and wish to express my condolences to Carla, RuthAnn, and Donald.
