David Ringstrom Obituary

David Keith RINGSTROM Dave passed away on July 22, 2003 as a result of a fatal car accident. His dear friend, David Hancock, and his partner, Bryant Snapp, were also fatally injured. Dave was born in Ukiah, CA on August 24, 1953. He graduated from Cordova High School in Rancho Cordova, CA in 1971 and went on to earn his Bachelor of Landscape Architecture degree at the University of Washington. While at the U. of W., he was active in Alpha Delta Phi Fraternity and became an avid Husky football fan. After graduating in 1977 Dave began his professional career as a Landscape Architect at Fong & La Rocca in San Fran- cisco. After a year he returned to the Seattle area to join the firm of Jongejan, Gerrand, McNeal in Bellevue. In 1989 he became a founding partner of Atelier p.s. Landscape Architects with partners, Larry Smart, Janis Snoey and Alex Shkerich. He was a past president of the Washington Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects. Dave was passionate about civic planning, park and urban design. He was involved in design many notable projects throughout the Northwest and Alaska, including Founders Court at Seattle Center, Lake Meridian Park, Soundview Park, and McClure Middle School and Mendenhall Lake Campground and Skaters Cabin. Dave loved traveling, gardening, skiing, hiking, and entertaining family and friends. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him, especially his parents, Fred and Jeanne Ringstrom of Mercer Island, his partner of ten years, Ted Bash, aunt, Evelyn Casperson, cousins, Sabrina, Kelli, Kyle and Emily, other family members and many close friends. Funeral Service will be Tuesday, July 29th, at 11 a.m. at Hoffner Fisher & Harvey Chapel 508 - N. 36th St., Seattle Interment will follow at Lakeview Cemetery. Remembrances may be made to The A. Richard Haag Scholarship for Architectural Design at the University of Washington or Lifelong AIDS Alliance, 1002 - East Seneca St., Seattle, WA 98122.
