Daniel L. Hess, age 66, of Lombard, Illinois, passed away on May 18, 2014. Born in Berwyn, Illinois, on October 1, 1947, and graduated from York Community High School.
Beloved husband of 45 years to Nancy Hess, nee Mayer; loving father of Matthew (Kirsten), Peter (Holly), Kimberly (partner James DeLeo); devoted grandfather of Abigail, William, Madeline, Cole, and Gemma Hess, and Alexander and Sophia DeLeo; fond brother of Edward and Vicky Hess.
Dan and Nancy began their own real estate company after extensive experience in the industry, D&N Property Management, which eventually became Key Investment & Management Inc. of Lombard. Heavily involved in the community and member of Villa Park Lions Club, Downers Grove Masonic Lodge, and Commander of The Black Horse Troop of The Shriners.
Visitation was Wednesday, May 21, 2014, from 3:00 to 9:00PM at Knollcrest Funeral Home, 1500 S. Meyers Rd. (3 blks. So. of Roosevelt Rd.) Lombard.
Memorials to Shriners Children's Hospital, 2211 N Oak Park Ave, Chicago, IL, 60707, are appreciated.

Nancy...
I'm the "mutual friend". My husband, David, just happened to spot the obituary in the Tribune. We were very sorry to hear of Dan's passing. We remember the good times we had at our apartment complex picnics in our early days. Take care.

Dan and I first met at York High School and we double dated a few times. He was a good friend and fun to be with. I was sorry to hear of his passing and he will be missed. Dan and family will be in my prayers.

Ralph and I miss Dan already. The dinners together; the laughter and jokes and Ralph's hour long phone conversations with Dan. He was such a special person and much loved.
