Chong Kim Obituary

Chong U. Kim, age 69, of Downers Grove, IL, passed away on Friday, March 18, 2011 at Edwards Hospital in Naperville, IL. Many of you may have known him as Mr. Kim of Crystal Cleaners in Downers Grove and Brownies Cleaners in Westmont. Mr. Kim is survived by his wife: Ki (Julie); five children: Soo, Won, Sun, Yun and Daniel; and seven grandchildren: Abbie, Matthew, Kasey, Kaylee, Kirsten, Elias and Dorian. He was a wonderful and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend who will be deeply missed by his family and friends. Mr. Kim was an important political figure in the Korean pro-democratic movement. He drafted numerous campaign speeches for previous Korean presidents, published editorial articles, and was the Vice Chairman for the Korean American Association of Chicago. Mr. Kim also loved the outdoors, hiking, fishing and bee-keeping. Services have been held. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be directed to Mr. Chong U.
