Chester Sitler Obituary

Chester H. Sitler, age 85, of Batavia, and formerly of Geneva, WWII US Marine Corps Veteran, passed away Sunday, December 25, 2011. He was born on June 9, 1926 in Shelbyville, Illinois to Chester and Alice Sitler. Chester was united in marriage on May 29, 1948 to Phyllis Thoen. He was a long time member of the West Chicago Church of Christ where he served as an elder for 28 years. Chester retired after 40 years of lithography and enjoyed bicycling, golfing, traveling and playing practical jokes on his friends. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Phyllis; five children, Tim (Cindy) Sitler of Little Rock, AR, Kim Sitler of Batavia, IL, Ric (Linda) Alessio of Oakland, MI, Dan (Jackie) Alessio of Hillsboro, OR and Loretta (Jeff) Fincher of Kennesaw, GA; eleven grandchildren, Michael, Anthony, Angela, Hannah, Rick, Faith, Joe, Dominick, Lucy, Audrey and Elizabeth; and nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Gene Sitler and Wayne Bunch; and one sister, June Raggio. A memorial service honoring Chester's life will be held Friday, December 30, 2011 at 4:00 pm at the West Chicago Church of Christ, 350 E. James Av., West Chicago, IL. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Chester's memory may be made to the West Chicago Church of Christ Food Pantry, 350 E. James Ave., West Chicago, IL 60185. Kim and Family,

You and your family are in our thoughts and prayers during this time of loss. I am so sorry I couldn't be with you this week. I remember your Dad as being very kind hearted and funny, I always enjoyed visiting with him when I had the opportunity. He will be missed by many. All my love, Norma Greer
