I was one of Brian's classmates at Coe College in the early '80s, and came across the notice of his passing just yesterday. Though I had not spoken with him for many years, I remember the many good times from our college days. Brian was a true friend with an infectious smile and laugh--just a great guy. I extend condolences to his family for the loss of this special person.

Brian was like a brother to me, he was kind and fun to be with, we as kids growing up with the Metz family. Brian will never be forgotten, especially cheese steaks and stinson beach near San Francisco. He was a friend and a brother that will be missed very much by me and my family. Brian is very special to all of us. Much Love to the Metz family always. Julie K Harris

As a school meet and greet activity one afternoon at Park Lakes Elementary where Brian worked in FL, we were asked to go to sections of the room that were designated for the region of the United States and other countries surrounding us to show where our roots were from. I was surprised to see, that when the midwest area was assigned, it was only Brian and me who were from IL. It was the start of what made me feel welcome at a new school. He frequently would stop just to chat and talk about our common love for Chicago. He is sorely missed and loved. Your family remains in my prayers for remembering all the fond memories of a loving and generous man.

To the family,
Brian was a great teacher and he will truly be missed at Park Lakes. One of my most foundest memories that I have of Brian is when I would panic about deadlines or think the world is coming to an end and get all excited, Brian would just smile like it's a piece of cake. Brian never worried about a thing. So Please remember the smile he wore and feel blessed that you had the opportunity to be a part of such a wonderful man like Brian's life.

Brian was a good soul. He will be missed. Many condolences to his wonderful family, the Metz's. They have always been wonderful friends and will remain in my prayers. Remembering Brian's sense of humor I can ask that now that he has completed his journey maybe he can put in a good word for all of us. With much love,

Brian will be greatly missed. He was a wonderful person - very giving, very kind. He was always optimistic - seeing the good in everything and everybody. I met Brian back in the mid-1980's in San Diego. He was always so much fun to be with. The world needs more people like Brian. Now, he is at peace and not suffering. But rather, he is in heaven with our Lord. One day, I'll be with Brian again.
My deepest condolences to Brian's family and friends. May Father God comfort you during this most difficult time.
With love
Tracy

My sympathy to the Metz family
36 As it is written: “For Your sake we are killed all day long; We are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.” 37 Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. 38 For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, 39 nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
The New King James Version. 1982 (Ro 8:36-39).
