"Doc" was a tremendous mentor and long-time family friend. Not only did Doc guide me towards a rewardable Air Force career but he touched countless others in the same way. Doc was one of those "rare finds" that positively influenced me to focus on going to the Air Force Academy and preparing myself to become a military pilot. I owe a lot to this man.
Deeply saddened to hear of his passing. Always in our thoughts.

I have many fond memories of Doc Reiland. I first met him after my enlistment in the air national guard. He loved everything Japan. When I first started work with the Air national guard, he got me to go for sushi with him. He opened a new world for me as I thought all asian food was the same, at the ripe age of 18. He would bring me flying as well. I was very lucky to have met him and learned much from him. He has touched my life in a very positive manner and I am grateful for his kindness, friendship and generosity. Later in life, my husband and I met up with doc Reiland to go for sushi and to share memories of medical school and being a doctor. I know that working with him in the air guard clinic influenced my decision to go to medical school. I hope fond memories of him help guide you through the difficult days ahead. He was truly one of the great people in my life.

I have many fond memories of Colonel Reiland. As the Commander of our unit, he was fair and kind. As a person, he was generous. I recall he once made a trip down to Champaign when I was a young airman in college and took me flying. He actually let me fly the plane - for about 3 seconds. Most memorably, he pinned on my 2nd Lieutenant bars when my commission came through.
I hope that memories of this fine man bring comfort to his family at this most difficult time.

Pam and family,
We were so sorry to hear about Uncle Bernie. We (including our furballs) really enjoyed meeting him after hearing fun stories about him for so many years. What an amazing man! We hope your fond memories of Bernie bring you comfort and peace.

Bernie was a much loved member of our family in Michigan. Bernie was a kind man---a good guy!
My father taught Bernie how to play " Moriarty are you there? " Look that one up!
I told Jimmy that Bernie took my grandmother flying for her first flight. As I remember she was 80 years old.
Could go on and on------from water skiing to golf.
