Barbara Lynn George, of Napanoch, a resident since 1969 and a dispatcher of the Ellenville Police Department for 31 years, died February 13, 2008 at the Albany Medical Center. She was 56.

The daughter of Steve and Florence Jeanette Thielicke Jurta, she was born November 14, 1951 in the Bronx.

Barbara served as the Chair of Martha and was past Associate Matron of the Wawarsing Chapter OES #253, Ellenville. She was a member of St. Marks United Methodist Church, Napanoch, served as the chairperson of the board and was a Sunday school teacher.

Survivors include her son, Leonard Marshall George of Napanoch; her brother, Steve Jurta of Napanoch; her sister, Ruth Quick and her husband Bruce of Wawarsing; four grandchildren, Dakota, Matthew, Nicholas and Shane; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at Loucks Funeral Home Inc., 79 N. Main St., Ellenville on Monday, Feb. 18 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Order of the Eastern Star will hold services at 7:30 p.m., Monday at the funeral home. Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 19 at St. Marks United Methodist Church, 68 Clinton St., Napanoch. The Rev. Eileen Daunt will officiate. Burial will be in the Fantinekill Cemetery, Ellenville.

Contributions, in her memory, may be sent to St. Marks United Methodist Church, 35 Church St., Napanoch, NY 12458.
