Arlene Zarate Obituary

Arlene J. Zarate (nee Kroning), age 86, of Warrenville, passed away Monday, December 27, 2010. She was born on October 27, 1924 in West Chicago to Ewald and Selma Kroning. Prior to marriage, Arlene was a member of the Round Grove 4H club, was a dental assistant in Glen Ellyn and employed by Monarch Foods in West Chicago where she met her husband. Arlene was united in Marriage on October 18, 1952 to Leon Zarate. She was a lifetime member of Trinity Lutheran Church in West Chicago where she was baptized, confirmed and married. Arlene was a wonderful homemaker who loved people, especially her family. Arlene is survived by her husband, Leon of 58 years; three daughters, Cheryl (Ed) Perkis of St. Charles, Carol Pena of So. Elgin and Meryl (John) Yorkson of New London, WI; three sons, Darrel (Patty) Zarate of Yorkville and David and Dale of Warrenville; 10 grandchildren, Dan, Joe and Jake Zarate, Brenda (Jason) Behrends, Katie and Dan Perkis, Lisa, Sheila and Ricky Pena and Aaron Yorkson; 6 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Deloris (late Joe) Hitzemann, Shirley (Floyd) Brown; 1 brother, Bob (Dorothy) Kroning; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; 4 brothers, Ken, Vern, Don and Leon Kroning and twin sister, Marlene Nelson and infant son, Gerald. Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 30, 2010 from 3 to 8 pm at Norris-Walen-Segert Funeral Home, 132 Fremont St., West Chicago. She will lie in state on Friday, December 31, 2010 from 10:00 AM until time of service at 11:00 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church, 331 George St., West Chicago. Rev David Balla officiating. Interment Glen Oak Cemetery in West Chicago. Grandma- Yesterday marked the one year anniversary of when you left us. We all miss you very much. Grandpa seems lost without you. He visits you every Sunday now. We will be having the Zarate Christmas soon, but it won't be the same without you.

I think of you often Grandma. It is hard to believe it has almost been a year. As Thanksgiving nears, I will give thanks for the wonderful presence you were in my life. I love you and miss you!
