Albert Schmidt Obituary

ALBERT 'AL ' SCHMIDT Albert 'Al ' Schmidt of Riverside, August 12, 1947-May 8, 2013. Devoted husband of Joan Andersen; loving father of Margaret Schmidt has passed away suddenly; his body was donated to The Anatomical Gift Association of Illinois. Al was born in Baum, Germany, emigrated to the United States in 1957 served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War from 1967 to 1969 being honorably discharged as a 1st Cavalry Division (Airmobile) Technical specialist, Grade 4. Upon returning to Chicago Al joined the Carpenters Union and worked in the construction field for many prominent construction companies for over 40 years as a Superintendent and retiring as a General superintendent. He loved all sports, especially soccer in which he played in several leagues; a great bowler and loved the outdoors. Al leaves behind his first wife Angelika; their two sons Kevin and Bryan; grandchildren Austin and Haley; brother the late Helmut (Helen), nephews Stephen and Erick; brother-in laws Jack (Ana), Robert (Kathleen), James Andersen and many nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, May 18, 2013 at Riverside Presbyterian Church 116 Barrypoint Rd. Riverside at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers please donate to Margaret Schmidt 's education fund. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Ivins/Moravecek Funeral Home. 708-447-2261 or www.ivinsfh.com.
