Joseph MAROTTA Obituary

MAROTTA, Joseph W. Jr. "Joe" Of Canton, originally from Randolph, a cherished and respected member of the community, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on November 7, 2024, at the age of 70. Born on July 11, 1954 in Boston, MA, Joe was a man whose life was marked by kindness, faith and selfless dedication to his family and work.

Joe was the beloved son of the late Joseph and Barbara (Duggan) Marotta. Joe grew up in Randolph with siblings, Barbara Marotta of Hanson, Catherine Earley of Medfield, Theresa Mollins and husband, Robert of Quincy, Gary Marotta and wife, Nancy of Bridgewater, Sally and Dave Buchanan of New Hampshire, Karen Marotta of Arizona, James Marotta and wife, Anne of Randolph, Michael Marotta and wife, Kim of Raynham, Gina Radcliffe of Randolph and Maria Marotta of Franklin and the late George Marotta of Randolph.

Joe was the founder of the well-known and respected Marotta Landscaping and Asphalt Paving Company, in which he dedicated many projects to his late wife, Elizabeth "Dee" (D'Amico) Marotta, who he loved dearly. Joe had such a positive impact on his friends, family, community and those around him. His kindness and character will continue to be felt by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

The outpouring of love from friends, family,, and neighbors who came every day to visit Joe was a testament to the strong friendships and love of family that held dear. Joe was often the one to visit and check in on others; he loved his routine. Every week Joe could be found sharing his joy of community at LaScala Restaurant in Randolph, a relationship that has become like family over the years, golfing at Blue Hill Country Club in Canton, meeting lifelong friends for Sunday coffee at White's Bakery in Brockton, attending Mass at Saint Bernadette's Church in Randolph and sharing laughs with the lovely staff at Fressers Deli in Randolph.

As we bid farewell to Joe, we celebrate a life well-lived, a journey marked by love, faith, generosity and service to others. His memory will live on in the hearts of his family, friends and all who were touched by his generous spirit. This is especially so for Gina and her three children, Alex, Olivia and Nicholas Radcliffe, who shared a special bond with Joe as their guardian, mentor and support system. Joe's departure leaves a void that cannot be filled, but the memories he created will forever be a source of comfort and inspiration.

The Marotta family are appreciative of the nurses and staff at Old Colony Hospice for their care and comfort towards Joe at the end of his life and to the care team and staff at Dana Farber Cancer Institute for their kind and compassionate care throughout his illness.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Visiting Hours on Thursday, November 14, from 3:00-7:00 PM, in the Cartwright Funeral Home, 419 North Main Street, RANDOLPH. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, November 15, at 12:00 noon, in Saint Bernadette's Catholic Church, 1031 North Main Street, Randolph. Burial to follow in Canton Corner Cemetery.

Like many people, I have a lot of great memories with uncle Joe. One of my favorite memories was when I was 8 years old he let me drive his Boxcat around at my dad’s job site. Most recently, he helped me build my first house from the ground up and I am incredibly grateful for everything he has done for me. Joes the type of person who would do anything for the people he cares about and he has always been that way. He was truly an amazing guy. Rest easy Joe. We love you and miss you. I know you’re truly at peace now with Dee.

As owner of Cape Cod Closet Systems I met Joe when he called me about doing closets at some homes he was building in Plymouth. He was as good as or even better than some of the contractors I´ve met over the years. Joe Margot´s was a pleasure to work for. Rest in peace Joe. I think of you, especially when i m driving down rte 3A in plymouth.

My condolence's to his family.
I grew up with Joe, I lived down on North Main Street. A hard working, ambitious kind man.
I remember swimming in his parents' pool
