Nicholas Manso Obituary

Nicholas J. Manso, Sr.

In the early morning hours of March 13th, 2026, Friday, Nicholas J. Manso Sr. rode on the wings of an angel to meet his Lord and Savior Jesus. After a life lived to the ripe young age of 95, he was once again able to see those who had passed before him. His parents Giuseppe (Joseph) and Carmilla Manso; his sisters Maria Menna of Brazil, Florence DeMint of Colorado and Anna Manso of New York. He left behind those that he loved, his wife of 37 years Petresia Manso; children Lynne Manso, Dawn Manso (Terry), Nicholas Jr., Michael and Joseph Manso; and beloved granddaughter Dawn Lynne Manso all of Albuquerque. As well as many nieces and nephews, along with many friends.

He was born in Brooklyn, New York to an Italian/American family on March 3, 1931. At the age of 19 he joined the US Air Force and was stationed in the Korean Conflict for a year and then sent to Japan. He liked to describe those years as dangerous but exciting for a young man. Nick eventually ended up at Kirtland Air Force Base where he met and married the mother of his children, Lillian. They moved to New York and then later to Florida before finally returning back to New Mexico. He joined the New Mexico Air National Guard as a flight engineer. Nick's love and respect for the men and women of the Enchilada Air Force/Tacos was deep. He made many life long friends and continued to see many of them at the Old Farts dinner, gatherings on base and the Thursday morning breakfasts.

We would like to thank the many people of Presbyterian Hospice (Brenda, Adrienne and Troy) as well as the many staff members of Brookdale Senior Living for their care, love and patience of Nick.
