Jon Barry Toops

Jon Barry Toops peacefully passed away at home on February 14, 2026 at the age of 86 years old. Barry, as he was known to family, was born to John S and Elizabeth Toops in Nashville TN on March 1st, 1939.

Barry honorably served his country in the US Airforce after graduating from high school where he demonstrated commitment and integrity throughout his military career. Following his service, he built a long and respected career working for E.I. DuPont and later continued his service to the public through his work with the TSA.

It was during his Air Force career, Barry met and married the love of his life, Hideko Ishikawa. They shared 56 year together and 2 children until her death in 2021.

He will be remembered as a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather and a good friend to many people.

Barry is proceeded in death by his wife Hideko; parents, Johnny and Elizabeth Toops; and sister Brook (Toops) Abner. He is survived by his brother David Toops of TN, sons James Kelly Toops of Florida; John Scott Toops of Colorado, daughter Lisa and husband Glen Delaney, grandson Guiden K Delaney and many neices and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Eastern Hills Baptist Church on March 28, 2026 at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Shriner's Children Hospital.
